In the second half of the 13 th century the monastery was bought by Proshyan princes. They built there the cave church of Astvatsatsin - the tomb of Proshyan family. The tomb which can be accessed through a small door is crowned with the octagonal dome.

One of the walls has a bas-relief: a bull' head holding a chain wrapped around the necks of two lions. Below the chain, between the lions there is an eagle clawing a lamb. The other wall is adorned with a big ornate cross. The altar niche is decorated with diamond-shaped ornaments and arched semi-columns. The wall-mounted panels imitating khachkars are on its both sides.
