• In the nearest 20 years the general volume of investment into the economy of Azerbaijan is expected to reach the level of $200 billion.

Industry in Azerbaijan

• Nowadays, the ICT sector is the second fastest developing branch of economy after the energy sector. The rate of profit growth in this sector reached 35-40% in the past two years.
• A place for the Azerbaijan satellite will be assigned before 2008 and the launch of the satellite is planned to be carried out by 2010.
• A package of proposals on creation of a special economic zone ‘technopark' in Azerbaijan will be worked out by March 1, 2007.
• Under the State Program on development of the ICT sector, computers with access to Internet must be installed in all grades of the general education schools by the end of 2008.
• According to the report of the Davoss forum, owing to the volume of its income in the ICT field Azerbaijan occupies the 73rd and 3rd places among CIS countries after Kazakhstan (60) and Russia (72). In the rating chart Azerbaijan leads Ukraine (76), Armenia (86), Moldova (94) and Georgia (96).
• The share of electronic ATE in the telephone network of the country made up 72%, whereas the analogous figure for the same period of 2005 had made up 59%. On October 1, an increase in the number of telephone apparatuses constituted 62 thousand in stead of the forecasted 36 thousand (by 71% more than expected).
