Why Azerbaijan?

• There is a very nice climate and very favorable conditions for investment created in Azerbaijan. As much as $24 billion was invested in the economy of Azerbaijan over the past 10 years, which is one of the highest figures per capita of the population in the region.
• The tempo of economy growth constituted 18% in 2005, which is the highest figure compared to that of other world countries. Azerbaijan became a leader among CIS countries due to the GDP growth achieved in 2005, with GDP growth measured at 18.9% ($6 billion) within the first half of the year.
• The volume of GDP in Azerbaijan in January-September 2006 reached $14 billion 144.6 million that was 34% growth compared with the same period last year. According to the State Committee on Statistics, the industry shares 71.4% of GDP. Azerbaijan's government expects GDP amounted $20.6 billion this year and $24.66 billion in 2007 allowing 26.3% of growth.
• Azerbaijan has maintained its status as the attractive country for investing – the total volume of investments is expected in amount of $6.55 billion.
• Trade turnover of Azerbaijan totaled $8.6 billion for nine months in 2006. $2.1 billion made up the trade operations with CIS, $6.5 billion felt on other countries. The main trade partners are Italy, Turkey, Russia, Israel, Iran, Great Britain, Germany, Ukraine and Poland.
• The World Bank allotted $50 million for carrying out healthcare reforms in Azerbaijan. The sum will be spent on construction of healthcare centers in five regions of the country with in-patient and out-patient departments, and ambulance services.
• Over $45 million were allotted for Healthcare purposes from the Azerbaijan Republic budget in 2006.
• The scope of the pharmaceutical market of Azerbaijan constitutes over $120 million USA dollars. The products of manufacturers from Eastern Europe, USA, Russia, Turkey, India and other countries-exporters of pharmaceutical products prevails on the Azerbaijan market.
• In the frame work of 2nd State Regions Development Programs there will be constructed and restorated more than 20 medical institutions in the regions and 10 medical organisations in the capital city and its suburb.

The BIHE 2007 exhibition is fully supported by the Ministry of Healthcare, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Azerbaijan Republic, the Export and Investment Promotion Fund in Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijan Stomatological Association ASA, the Confederation of Entrepreneurs of Azerbaijan, and TUSIAB - the Azerbaijan-Turkish International Society of Manufacturers and Businessmen.
