Exhibition Objectives

• To demonstrate the development of the regions and of the Gandja-Gazakh economic region in particular
• To demonstrate the economic achievements in the region and reflect the interest taken in this region by the business sector and investors
• To step up the process of integration and development of cooperation the Western region and other regions of Azerbaijan.
• To create a forum for exchange of ideas and experience between the businessmen of the region and potential investors.
• To promote further formation and development of the industrial sector in Gandja
• To create conditions for the population's and business circle representatives' familiarization with the latest industrial achievements and promote wide introduction of modern technologies into everyday life and production.
• To promote strengthening of the tourism potential of the region and attract more business tourists.

Gandja: Industrial Centre

• The second largest city in Azerbaijan and industrial centre of the Gandja-Gazakh economic region.
• Total area is 12.49 thousand square kilometres (14.4% of the overall territory of the country)
• Total number of population is over 1.1 million people (13.6% the overall population of the country)
• The Gandja-Gazakh economic region is rich in mineral wealth such as iron ore, alunite, limestone, marbles, gypsum, zeolite and cement raw materials. Such reserves as the Dashkesan iron ore, Zeylik alunite and Khoshbulag limestone are of industrial significance.
• The north-western region remains one of the priority regions for investment in the framework of the 2004-2008 government program of developing the regions.
• Owing to its economic significance, the Gandja-Gazakh economic region occupies the second place in the country and supplies 12-13% of the total volume of industrial production of the country. The industry of this economic region consists of the extractive and processing branches. There are facilities for production of raw materials for ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy and for their initial processing in Gandja and Dashkesen.
• The main production facilities of the local industry are the industrial complex for large-panel house-building and plants for production of ferroconcrete, bricks and marble
• Gandja and the region as a whole are situated on railway and motor roads connecting Azerbaijan with Georgia and Black sea shore, and are an important link in the realization of the “Great Silk Road” transport corridor, which includes the reconstruction of the Baku-Gazi-Magomed-Yevlakh-Gandja-Georgian border highway and construction of motor roads of local designation.
• New systems of water supply and sewerage are under construction in Gandja in the framework of the project of water supply improvement in the cities of Azerbaijan
