The Telegraph names Kakheti an extraordinary destination

Ikalto Monastery in KakhetiOne of the UK’s most prominent media outlet, The Telegraph, composed a list of 10 most extraordinary destinations its readers probably never heard of. Georgian region of Kakheti was included in that list. According to the newspaper although being unfamiliar with the place people in Europe have definitely tried one of the most famous products this land is popular with - Kakhetian wine, which is being produced in Georgia for almost 8000 years. Georgia’s finest grape drinks are already on the wine lists of such London restaurants as The Fat Duck, Nobu, and Hibiscus.

Some of the major Kakhetian tourist highlights, as quoted in the Telegraph, includes Ikalto Monastery «where Orthodox priests kept meticulous viticulture records; fortified sacramental wine cellars larger than the churches they supplied; and the vineyards and wine cellars» of many other producers.
