It is named after the hero of Abkhazian national epos Abrskil - the prototype of Greek Prometheus. Surrounded by picturesque green mountains Abrskil Cave is one of the most beautiful karstic caves of Abkhazia equal in its beauty and greatness to Novoafon Cave . The length of its galleries reaches 2 km, 1,500-1,700 meters of which are accessible to tourists. This distance is occupied by four halls with numerous stalactites and stalagmites fancifully flickering in illumination lights. The excursion goes along the little underground river. Right at the cave entrance one can see the watchtowers of the Great Abkhazian Wall and the waterfall. |
