The antique past of Pitsunda is represented by the picturesque ruins of Pitiunt fortified city. (near the road to Gagra). Archeological excavations exposed the extensive territory of the ancient settlement with the remains of fortifications and towers and temples decorated with multi-colored mosaics as well as various purposes structures with individual system of water supply. There many household items and ornaments were also found.
