Why Kazakhstan ?
In January through May 2005, the volume of construction works/services in Kazakhstan was 171.7 billion tenge 1.3 times more than in January through May 2004.
The largest share (81.1%) in the national volume is taken by construction works completed by private organisations. In January through May 2005, 8,794 buildings with the total area of 1,951,400 sq. m were built in the country, including those for residential purpose 7,167 buildings with the total area of 1,609,500 sq. m.
In January through April 2005, the foreign trade turnover of Kazakhstan was US$ 13,390.5 million a 46.5 % increase as compared with the same period in 2004, including export US$ 8,325.2 million (a 47.8% growth), and import US$ 565.3 million (a 44.5% growth).
In 1999-2004, the total GDP growth was about 55%, which made Kazakhstan a world leader in economic development rates. According to preliminary data, in 2004 the GDP growth was 9.3% as compared with 2003.
The largest share in the national volume of commissioned housing is taken by Astana (17.2%), Almaty (15%), Southern Kazakhstan Oblast (14.3%), Almaty Oblast (10.8%), and Atyrau Oblast (10.1%).
The Housing Programme KazBuild Spring 2007
The Republic of Kazakhstan has adopted the 2005-2007 housing construction programme which aims to build and commission more than 12 million sq. m of residential housing: more than 3 million sq. m in 2005, more than 4 million sq. m in 2006, and more than 5 million sq. m in 2007.
The State Programme on Development of Housing Construction in the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2005-2007 is funded from the national budget: 150 billion tenge, including 60.5 billion tenge in 2005, 63.7 billion tenge in 2006, and 25.8 billion tenge in 2007.
Building and Finishing Materials KazBuild Spring 2007
The import of building materials, items and structures in 2004 totalled US$ 922.2 million. The main suppliers are Russia (37.6%), Germany (8.3%), China (5.9%), Ukraine (5.5%), U.S. (4.4%), Italy (3.3%), Japan (3.1%), Turkey (2.7%), France (2.5%), U.K. (2.4%), Korea (1.9%), Uzbekistan (1.8%), and the Netherlands (1.5%).
