Why Kazakhstan?
The aim of Development of Telecommunications Industry of Kazakhstan Republic Program for 2006 – 2008 is a creation of conditions and mechanisms for telecommunications industry development; these preconditions led to the opportunity for entering Kazakhstan to the most 50 developed countries to 2012.
The main tasks of the Program are following: perfection of the state regulation of telecommunication industry, innovative-technologic development and maintenance of of technical base of the industry.
Among other tasks: continuation of works on IP-telephony development, conversion of a radio-frequency spectrum, creation of conditions for decrease in tariffs for inter-city and international communication services, using of wireless systems, introduction of standards of the third and the subsequent generations of mobile communication.
The World Bank and International Monetary Fund have acknowledged Kazakhstan as one of the fastest developing economies in the world.
The confidence of success of intensive development of telecommunications of Kazakhstan develops of following preconditions:
- Appeal of steadily developing potential of Republic Kazakhstan to foreign investors
- Favourable geographical position of Kazakhstan located in the center of the Euroasian continent, as stable factor in global space of the CIS
- Choice of passage of a line intercontinental (Trance-Asian-European) of an information supermain cable line 10,000 sq.m. through the basic industrial centres and zones of residing of the population of Kazakhstan
- Growth of gross national product of Kazakhstan in 2007, according to the forecast of the government and National bank, will make 8,6 percent, industrial production - 7,2 percent
- Kazakhstan is ranked 5th in the world in terms of oil and gas reserves as well as other natural resources. Tengiz – the 6th largest oil bubble in the world containing up to 25 billion barrels of oil. Oil development has resulted in rapid economic growth.
- As a part " Strategy industrially-information разыития РК till 2015. ", in Kazakhstan the Park of Information Technologies - Alatau IT City, located on 340 hectares has opened, the investment project is estimated in US $50 million
Telecommunication Industry in Kazakhstan
Telecommunications is the most dynamic, fast growing and prospective market in Kazakhstan. According to the Economist Intelligence Unit, the market could be worth $10 billion by 2010. The key growth drivers of the telecom sector include the deployment of fibre optic networks across Kazakhstan to be finished by Kazakhtelecom by 2007, efforts to improve international connectivity and increase mobile and fixed line subscribers, the continuing digitalisation of communication, the further improvement of telecom legislation, and the movement toward WTO accession.

KITEL 2008
