Karaganda - an Industrial Center of Kazakhstan
Karaganda Oblast is located in the central part of the Republic of Kazakhstan and borders with 9 of 14 oblasts of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Area – 428,000 sq. km
Population of the Oblast – 1,333,500

Population of the Oblast centre – 436,100
Potential recoverable value of in-place reserves of Karaganda Oblast, in basic kinds of solid minerals, is US$ 758.2 billion.
Reserves and predicted resources are US$ 1,162 billion.
The Oblast possesses vast reserves of non-metallic raw materials for metallurgy and construction industries.I
The Housing Programme of the Exhibition
Joint enterprising is the most promising and outspread form of foreign investment in the Oblast's economy, and Karaganda Oblast holds the 4th place in this respect. The Oblast has 720 joint-stock and foreign enterprises
Housing construction in 2005 in the Oblast: 211,777 sq. m, Karaganda – 95,218 sq. m. In 2006, the plan is to build 216,030 sq. m in the Oblast and 102,500 sq. m in Karaganda.
In 2005-2007, the plan is to commission 464,300 sq. m of total housing, including: in 2005 – 112,500 sq. m, in 2006 – 153,900 sq. m, and in 2007 – 197,900 sq. m.
Assignments from the national budget for implementation of the Regional Programme of Housing Construction Development in Karaganda Oblast for 2005-2007 equal 4.2 billion tenge, including 1.7 billion tenge in 2005, 1.6 billion tenge in 2006, and 0.9 billion tenge in 2007.
Besides, housing construction will be performed by private investors – a total of 7.6 billion tenge in 2005-2007, i.e. 1.9 billion tenge in 2005, 2.2 billion tenge in 2006, and 3.5 billion tenge in 2007.
In 2006, the Oblast continued to experience a growth of industrial production. The planned industrial output will be 517.1 billion tenge.
