“EXPO-2017” will be held in Astana

A decision to appoint Astana a capital of International Specialized Exhibition was made in the course of vote of the member-countries’ representatives of the Bureau of International Expositions. In the final bid, held in several stages the Kazakhstan’s capital has won an absolute majority of votes (103 out of 161), leaving the Belgian city of Liege, its main competitor, far behind.

About 100 member-countries and 10 international organizations will take part in “EXPO-2017” during three months (from 10 June till 10 September 2017). “EXPO-2017” will be a milestone event for Kazakhstan: no international exhibition of such level has ever taken place before in the Central Asian Region and CIS countries. “EXPO-2017” is a great step for Kazakhstan to become as an international exhibition and information-presentation site.

Note: “EXPO” International Specialized Exhibition is the largest international exhibition which demonstrates the latest scientific and technical achievements, development prospects as well as history, traditions and culture of the whole world’s countries. The world exhibition for the first time took place in 1851 in Great Britain, where a Crystal Palace was built specially on this occasion. Later on the torch on “EXPO” holding was taken up by countries such as the USA, Spain, Italy, France, Japan, Korea, Belgium, Brazil, China etc.
