Astana is improving its transport infrastructure for the EXPO-2017

Kazakhstan is now in the process of improving and developing transport-logistics structure of Astana within the framework of the preparation for the EXPO-2017, reports the official website of the exhibition. The construction of a new rail network that is planned to be completed by March 2017 has already been launched. Besides, airport of Astana will be renovated; its square will be expanded from 22 000 square meters to 45000, allowing the increase of the passengers up to 7,5mln a year. It is also planned to reconstruct the runway, to build a new passenger terminal and to open of new routes.

Also, new project of a port of Special Economic Zone “Horgos – Eastern gates” will be presented and the construction of railway line Borzhakty-Yersay will be completed. Among other improvements of transport and logistics infrastructure of Kazakhstan at the threshold of EXPO-2017: expanding the port of Aktau in the northern direction and erection of trans logistical centers of class “A” in Astana and Shymkent. Besides, new road projects will be launched such as “Centre-South” (Astana-Karaganda-Balkhash-Almaty), “Centre-East” (Astana-Pavlodar-Aktau), “Centre-West” (Astana-Arkalik-Torgay-Shalkar-Beyneu-Aktau).

To remind, Astana will host an international exhibition EXPO-2017 from June 10 to September 10, 2017, that will be held under the title of “Energy of the future” and will be dedicated to the alternative sources of energy.
