MilkSour cream is a traditional Russian seasoning used for virtually all dishes - soups, pelmeni, and salads. Russians didn’t know any other cultured milk products except sour cream, curd and thick sour milk were known in Russian cuisine. Dried and pressed curd used to be called cheese. It was only in the 15th - 16th centuries that Russians borrowed the secrets of cream and butter making.
