Located at the distance of 4 -hour drive from Ashgabat in the west of the Kopet Dagh ridge is an extraordinary region in terms of cultural value. Along with Indian traditions and life style this nation has saved its unique national crafts and architecture. The v illages on the hill slopes are unusual in their beautiful stone houses standing among picturesque gardens of almond and pomegranate trees.
High in the mountains ( 1,000 -1,100 m ) you will find Nokhur. To get to this "heavenly spot" is not easy - ascents, descents , winding mountain paths. But all these inconveniences will be forgotten at the sight of this original beautiful place surrounded by mountains from four sides. According to legends the name originated from the biblical prophet Noah whose ark moored to Mount Manoman after 40-day trip. The words "nokh" or "nukh" are translated as "impact". Local old residents explain the diversity of Nokhur flora and fauna by the fact that during immemorial times the son Noah - Nukh set all the animals and birds free in these mountains and planted all seeds stored on the ark. Khur-Khuri water fall originating from a few small mountain springs falls from the height of 53 meters.
"Dehv House" cave is also worth visiting; it is a narrow crevice lea ding to deep darkness. They say that at night mysterious and awesome voices are audible from it. There is also the highest point of Kopet Dagh which is called " Three Wells ". The trip to this surprising land is impossible to forget.
