The State Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theatre named after A.Navoi finished the restoration. Last Saturday the first play was performed at the new stage.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Uzbekistan, the theatre has produced an interesting New Year program. Until the end of December there will be the best performances of the theatre: "The Pearl Fishers" opera by Georges Bizet, "The Bremen Town Musicians” musical by Gennady Gladkov, "Spartacus" ballet by Aram Khachaturian, "Rustic Chivalry" opera Pietro Mascagni, "Giselle" ballet by Adolphe Adam, "Rigoleto" an opera by Giuseppe Verdi, "Carmen" opera by Georges Bizet, "Madame Butterfly" opera by Giacomo Puccini and "The Nutcracker" ballet by Tchaikovsky.
On the eve of the New Year the theater prepares a fairy-tale musical for children “Christmas miracles in the Bolshoi" on the fairy tale by Yevgeny Schwartz "Two maples". Premiere of a New Musical will be held on December 25.
In 2012 the theatre is planning a big premiere of the Giuseppe Verdi's opera "Il Trovatore", an updated production of the “Tomiris” ballet by Ulugbek Musaev, as well as the revival of the Giacomo Puccini's opera "La Boheme" with the young artists. In addition, in the spring the Bolshoi Theatre is planning to hold an International Theatre Festival "Tashkent Spring".
