On 8 November 2012 an opening of railway terminal after reconstruction took place in Urgench. The passenger building, landside area and platform were renovated in the course of complete overhauling carried out by the SJSRC “Uzbekistan Temir Yullari”. The government assigned 4 billion UZS for railway terminal reconstruction in the Khorezm regional center.
The passenger building is accommodated with every convenience for passengers. Along with a waiting hall and left-luggage offices the passenger building now has a rest room, room for mothers with children, canteen and medical station. The rest rooms are equipped with air-conditioner, TV set and modern furniture.
In the course of time the SJSRC “Uzbekistan Temir Yullari” is planning to reconstruct railways connecting Urgench with Bukhara and launch a high-speed train in the direction of Samarkand-Bukhara-Urgench.
