The Museum funds keep in store over 30,000 exhibits dated from the III century BC till present. There are archeological finds from the Kushan Empire period, Karakhanids and Timurids’ regiment epoch, Mongolian and Arab conquests etc.
The Museum building was built at the beginning of the XIX and end of the XX centuries. Before 1996 it housed various institutions. Its first Director and one of the founders was Zaamin historian, geographer and journalist Sattor Karabaev. Today, his daughter Gulnara works in the Museum as a research officer.
Modern Zaamin is a developing tourist zone located on the tourist route between Samarkand and Tashkent. Its main place of interest is Zaamin National Park with the territory exceeding 24 ha, occupied by virgin natural landscapes.
The advantageous geographic location, picturesque natural landscapes and environmentally safe surrounding give good opportunity for the development of sanative tourism and ecotourism in Zaamin. The last few years saw an intensive work to open guest houses, lay roads; a piste is being under construction now. Interesting tourist routes are being developed together with Uzbek tour operators.
