Karakalpak craftsOn 26 September 2013 the Nukus Museum of Art named after Savitsky which houses the most complete collection of Karakalpak folk arts and crafts will host the event “Embroiderers’ Hands like Jeweler’s Wire”. The guests will have embroidery and weaving master-classes given by craftswomen Gulnara Embergenova and the member of “Onermet” Craftsmen Association Nargul Nagmetova.

The pieces of work of Karakalpak embroiderers and weavers strike with a variety of ornate floral and zoomorphic patterns, brightness of colors, and plays of threads. From the earliest times, the ability to embroider elaborately was considered one of the main qualities of a young girl in Karakalpakstan, and the most beautiful and ingenious items of genuine mistresses were specially brought to neighboring villages for the all community to feast eyes on. In the course of the master-classes, the folk craftswomen will demonstrate in full details a manufacturing process and share the subtleties of Karakalpak crafts.

Karakalpak folklore music will be performed for the guests as a music part of the event.
