Ak-Saray, ShakhrisabzAn opening ceremony of Ak-Saray Palace (end of the XIV century) will take place late in April in Shahrisabz, following the completion of restoration of Palace Square tiles. The restoration work of this unique Uzbek monument continued about 16 months in total.

The project was implemented as part of Uzbek-French cultural cooperation by SOCRA, and co-financed by the Dordogne Department General Council and French Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Also in April, Uzbek and French experts are planning to start the restoration of the fresco “Ambassadors” (the VII century), kept in the Afrosiab Museum. The unique fresco, found in 1965 at the excavation of Afrosiyob site, consists of four large wall fragments devoted to diplomatic relations between King Varhuman and China. Currently the fresco is in a critical condition and needs urgent restoration.
