Uzbekistan made a film about Savitsky

On September 4, 2015 during the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Igor Savitsky the State Museum of Arts of Karakalpakstan will host the premiere of the documentary film “The Passion of Igor Savitsky”, reports Marinka Babanazarova, director of the museum, to Advantour.com.

Screenwriter and film director is Ali Khamraev, the Honored Artist of Uzbekistan, Laureate of the State Prize of Republic of Uzbekistan. His son Ergash is the cameraman and editor, and his daughter Leyla is the editor of the film. The chief consultant of the film is Marinika Babanazarova, the director of the Savitsky State Museum of Arts, a student and follower of Savitsky.

The film will tell about life and work of Igor Savitsky, the people he met, about Uzbekistan and its culture, and priceless museum collection gathered by Savitsky. Filming was held in Karakalpakstan, Uzbekistan and Russia.

The film director informed that the film draws attention to the image of Savitsky – a person who was modest, fearless, and adventurous. Through his obsessive passion for art, today Karakalpak museum houses a priceless collection of paintings and works of applied art of artists from Central Asia. People come to enjoy the museum he founded more than a half century ago from all over the world.
