Ultramarathoner Dean Karnazes to run across Uzbekistan

Dean KarnazesLegendary American long-distance runner Dean Karnazes is running the Silk Road Ultra Marathon across Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan from June 29 to July 10, reports the press-service of the US Embassy in Uzbekistan. This ultra marathon is dedicated to the 25th anniversary of independence of these three countries.

As Sports Envoy, Karnazes will cross 525 km in 11 days starting in Tashkent, then Bishkek and finishing in Almaty.

Running 80km a day in average, Karnazes is planning to meet people, hold short running trainings, present and invite people of all ages to join his marathon.

The TIME has listed Dean Karnazes as one of the 100-Top influencing people in the world, and Men’s Fitness named him one of the most athletic people on the planet. Among his numerous achievements is 563-km non-stop run without sleep for 3 days. He ran across the Death Valley with the temperature of +49 degrees Celcius and did the marathon in the South Pole with the temperature of -40.
