Revived folklore festival Baysun spring in UzbekistanOn 12-14 May, there will be held an International Folklore Festival “Boysun bahori” (Boysun spring) in the Surkhandarya region, reports the press-service of the State Committee on Tourism Development.

Since 2001, Boysun region has been included in the UNESCO list of Masterpieces of Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity. The first folklore festival “Boysun spring” with participation of national performers from Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan was held in May 2002. There is a necessary infrastructure for holding these events – in 2002, with the support of UNESCO, park “Boysuntog” was built that includes ethnography museum, special folklore village tandoors (ovens), vineyards and gardens, craftsmen street and traditional yurts, specific for Boysun.

Festival “Boysun spring” enlarges the festivals list in Uzbekistan, namely, “Sharq Taronalari” in Samarkand, “Silk and spices” in Bukhara, “Atlas bayrami” in Marghilan, “Magic of the dance” in Khorezm and tourism exhibitions in Tashkent.
