Why Uzbekistan?
For Uzbekistan, agriculture is a priority sector of the national economy, since the Republic is the one of the world’s leading growers of cotton, fruit and vegetables and other agricultural produce.The companies participating in the 1st Exhibition on Agriculture highly assessed the activity of its organizers. They also pointed to the heightened interest that representatives of ministries and departments, farmers and private firms of Uzbekistan displayed for the equipment and technologies demonstrated at the exhibition.
- Uzbekistan is a country of ancient irrigation agriculture. Irrigation agriculture is the basis of food independence of the Republic and the source of export oriented products. It provides more than 95% of all products of plant growing. The Republic is the main manufacturer and supplier of cotton that has an enormous export potential and is strategically important product. While entire Central Asia produces about 2 million tons of lint cotton, 1,4 million tons in that amount is Uzbekistan’s cotton lint. Uzbekistan occupies fifth place in the world by the production of cotton lint.
- Uzbekistan is the largest producer of vegetables, fruit and grapes many varieties of which are unique by their taste qualities due to special natural climatic conditions. Nowadays up to 5 million tons of fruit and vegetable products are produced in Uzbekistan that significantly exceeds the demands of the republican market.
- Statistically more than 65% of the population of the Republic live in rural area. In this regard one of the main tasks of the government is the development and support of farms. Farmers are interested not only in realization of agricultural raw materials, they sell finished agricultural products both in domestic market and export. This includes meat and milk raw materials and fish and this is what dictates the demand for the use of modern technologies and high quality equipment.
- Since 2003 a new stage of economic reforms has been launched in the agrarian sector of Uzbekistan. Grant funds will also be allocated for technical re-equipment and support of agrarian sector.
