• The Republic of Uzbekistan is the country with population of 26 million and the area of 447,000 sq.km. Rates of growth of gross national product in 2005 have made 7 %, rate of inflation - 7,8 %, industrial production has increased by 7,3 %, release of consumer goods - on 17,7 %, an agricultural production - on 6,2 %. In structure of gross national product the share of the industry has increased in 2005 up to 20,7 % against 14 % in 2002, the share of sphere of services has exceeded 38,5 %.

The output of furniture increased due to the high development rate of the woodworking industry with a growth index of 23.0%. The application of new technologies, as well as the increase in output of assembled production based on foreign-made spare parts, had a certain impact on development of this industry.
• By present time in Uzbekistan it is registered over than 3,200 enterprises created at participation of investors from more than 85 countries of the world. During the period, until 2005 in Uzbekistan creation of 292 enterprises with foreign investments into all branches of economy is planned.
• Demand for furniture production lately has considerably increased. Only in Tashkent, it is totaled about 200 furniture interiors. About 500 enterprises are occupied in the furniture industry.
