Why TIHE 2008?
- The Republic of Uzbekistan is located in the heart of Central Asia and deservedly considered as one of the pearls of Central Asia and the entire Great Silk Road region. Uzbekistan borders with Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyz Republic.
- The Republic of Uzbekistan is the country with population of 26 million and the area of 447, 000 sq. km.
- There are 8 322 treatment-and-prophylactics medical organisations in Uzbekistan including 1018 hospitals, 3825 medical out-patient polyclinic organisations, 3479 rural medical and out-patient organisations.
- Today over 4,500 preparations are registered in Uzbekistan. Among them over 2,000 preparations are manufactured by foreign pharmaceutical companies, about 1,300 of medicaments are manufactured by producers from the CIS countries, 250 names of substances and means for diagnostics are registered, over 300 kinds of medicines are made in Uzbekistan.
- Over 80 pharmaceutical companies (foreign representative offices) are operating on the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The largest suppliers of pharmaceutical products to Uzbekistan are Russia, Ukraine, Germany, Poland, France and the USA.
- There are 92 manufacturers of medicines and products for medical purpose in Uzbekistan.
Investment projects
- “Reform of the primary link in the healthcare sector (2nd stage)". The project will be funded out of the US $40.0 million long-term credit extended by the World Bank on preferential terms.
- “Target program for the women and children health protection ". The funding for the project will be provided in the form of the US $40.0 million long-term credit allotted by the Asian Development Bank on preferential terms.
- Outfitting with medical equipment of 12 regions covered by the Republican Centre for Emergency Medical Aid". To meet the cost of the project, the US $23.8 million long-term credit will be given by the Islamic Development Bank on preferential terms.
- “Outfitting with medical-diagnostic equipment of oncological centres". The project will be financed out of the US $2.5 million long-term credit provided by the Peoples Republic of China on preferential terms.
- “Outfitting of republican and provincial clinics with haemodialysis equipment". The funding toward the cost of the project will be provided to the tune of US $3.6 million.
- “Outfitting with medical equipment of 171 district sub-divisions of the branch of the Republican Centre for Emergency Medical Aid". The project will be financed out of the US $25.0 million long-term credit to be extended by the KFAER on preferential terms.
- “Outfitting with medical equipment of the Research Institute for Obstetrics and Gynecology, 4 branches and 9 provincial maternity hospitals". The funding toward the cost of the project will be provided to the tune of US $10.0 million.
- “Outfitting with medical-diagnostic and medical equipment of the Republic's specialised centres for surgery, urology, cardiology and eye micro-surgery in Tashkent". The project will be funded out of the US $20.0 million long-term credit given by the Islamic Development Bank on preferential terms.
- Ministry of Public Health is planning equipping of cardiosurgery centre in Tashkent. The 1st stage will be founded of $10, 5 millions.
