Day 2, We: Yerevan – Hayravank – Noratus – Sevanavank – Yerevan

At 09:00, meet your guide and driver and head to Hayravank Monastery (9-12th centuries). Continue to Noratuz, a village famous for its big khachkar (carved cross-stones) cemetery, where you can see about 900 khachkars of various styles and epochs. Drive to the Lake Sevan, “The Jewel of Armenia”, one of the largest high-mountainous fresh water lakes in the world. The coastline of the Lake Sevan is rich with thick woods, white bare steep rocks, mountain steppes and Alpine meadows. Stop at Sevanavank to visit the remnants of the monastery that includes two temples – Surb Arakelots and Surb Astvatsatsin standing among numerous khachkars. The buildings were constructed from black tuff which probably gave the monastery its name Sevanavank translated as “the Black Monastery”. The place opens up a magnificent view: the mountains surround lake from all sides and snow tops are seen almost on the entire perimeter and disappear behind horizon. Return to Yerevan. Overnight at the hotel.
Duration of sightseeing tour: 8-9 hours
Driving distance: 220 km
Day 3, Th: Yerevan – Echmiadzin – Yerevan

Breakfast. In the morning, drive out of the city to Etchmiadzin, the Holy See of Armenia and the residence of the head of the Armenian Apostolic Church – the Catholicos of All Armenians. Return to explore Yerevan, the oldest capital city in the South Caucasus. Yerevan is known as the Pink City and attracts visitors with its humble yet splendid landscapes. Our first stop in Yerevan will be at the Armenian Genocide Memorial Complex on Tsitsernakaberd Hill. Next, visit the Cascade Monument, which was the main symbol of the city’s 2,780th anniversary and has the equivalent number of stairs – this enormous staircase is 500 meters high and 50 meters wide. From the top of the monument, enjoy a breathtaking city view that includes the Opera House, Mount Ararat, Swan Lake, Republic Square, and Abovyan Avenue, all of which we’ll see as we walk the streets of Yerevan. The sightseeing tour will finish in the afternoon, after which you’ll have some free time. Overnight at the hotel.

The monastery’s location allows you to enjoy the best views of Mount Ararat. Drive to Noravank Complex situated on a ledge of a deep winding gorge. Noravank stands amidst the bizarrely shaped, precipitous red cliffs. Continue to Areni Cave complex, where in 2010, the earliest shoe in the world was found. Depart back to Yerevan.
