Anichkov Bridge

Anichkov Bridge

It is impossible to imagine Nevsky Prospekt the sculptural complex of Anichkov Bridge across the Fontanka River, which complements the look and decorates the main street. The bridge was named so after Lieutenant Colonel Anichkov by the soldiers who built the bridge. Anichkov Bridge is the oldest bridge of St. Petersburg. Originally the tree- span bridge was built in 1715. After that it repeatedly changed its appearance, sometimes drastically. In 1841 it was complemented with the bronze figures of «horse tamers» created by the renowned sculptor Сlodt.
