The China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan Tour follows the paths taken by merchants along the Silk Road for millennia, through the great trading cities of Urumqi, Samarkand, Bukhara, and Khiva. Walk through the bazaars of Kashgar, Rishtan and Osh, which have long hosted master craftsmen, and experience traditional Uyghur village life in the Opal Village, while Kyrgyz yurts offer a glimpse into nomadic adventures. Don’t miss this opportunity to explore the architectural monuments of China, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, such as the Id-Kah Mosque, the largest mosque in China, Ichan-Qala Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Khiva, or Registan Square, Samarkand’s most visible monument. Tour itinerary:

Day 1, Sa: Urumqi
Arrival in Urumqi. You will be met at the airport and transferred to the hotel. Sightseeing tour in Urumqi. Overnight at the hotel.
Meals: -
Day 2, Su: Urumqi – Kashgar
Transfer to the airport. Flight to Kashgar. On arrival, you will be met at the airport and transferred to the city to start sightseeing in Kashgar. You will visit Aba Khoja Tomb also called Fragrant Concubine Tomb (Xingfei in Chinese). This is a very tranquil place and a beautiful example of Uyghur Islamic architecture.
After, you will head to the lively Sunday market, famous for its enormous area. It is said you can buy anything you want from the Sunday market except chicken milk and cow eggs.
You will then enjoy lunch in a typical Uyghur restaurant.
After lunch you will wander through the narrow winding streets of the historic Old town, visit the largest mosque* in China Id Kah Mosque located at the spiritual heart of old town. Go inside and have the chance to understand a bit more about the Islamic life of the Uyghur people. You will pass down Handicraft Street where we can view pots being hammered, wood craftsmen at work and traditional musical instrument workshops.
*When entering a mosque, visitors should respect guidelines for dress. Visitors should not wear shorts or short-sleeved shirts, and women should cover their head with a scarf.

Day 3, Mo: Kashgar – Karakul Lake – Tashkurgan
Today you will take a drive on Karakorum highway, the highest paved border crossing in the world. On the way you will stop in Opal village located in an hour drive from Kashgar. There you will see a rural life and traditional activities like bread making and Uyghur food stalls. The next stop will be Oytagh Red Mountain, a half hour drive from the village. The mountain valley is surrounded by a beautiful backdrop of multi-coloured mountains topped by snowcapped peaks. Corner Lake (Bulung Kul) is a tranquil shallow lake where you can take very nice photographs of the lake with stunning reflections of the sand mountains. Karakul Lake is 3600 m above sea level. It is located between the Mount Muztagata (7546 m) and the Mount Gonger (7719 m), included in the 6 most beautiful mountains in the world. You will visit the local Kyrgyz Yurts (mobile nomadic dwellings) and listen to their stories about traditional ways of nomadic mountain life.
Picnic lunch: you will then enjoy picnic lunch of fruits and fresh bread that we purchased in Opal village in a beautiful picnic spot overlooking the Karakul Lake. The next stop will be in Tashkurgan, a small town located on the Pamir Plateau, in 1.5 h drive from Karakul Lake. This area was extremely isolated until the rebuilding of the Karakorum highway in 1987 and even today the local community still lives in a very traditional fashion with only a single road connection to Kashgar, so it has retained a certain uniqueness. This region is commonly known as the main road of the “old Silk Road” the main route leading from China to West Asia. The average elevation is 4000 m.

Day 4, Tu: Tashkurgan – Kashgar
After breakfast you will visit the Stone fort, located in downtown Tashkurgan. It has a history of more than 2000 years. In times gone by it was the central palace of the Tajik kingdom. Then you will hike around the Tashkurgan grassland and enjoy the scenery of Mount Mutztah Ata and Mount Pamir. We take the Karakorum Highway back to Kashgar and arrive in the late afternoon.
Note: Guests will need to carry their passports as there is a passport check at the Gaz check point (around an hour after the colorful mountain on the first day and also on the way back to Kashgar). Everybody at this point needs to be registered by the authorities due to its close proximity to many bordering countries.
We also recommend to bring warm clothes as it can be colder than at the higher altitudes.

Day 5, We: Kashgar – Irkeshtam – Osh
Transfer to Irkeshtam Pass. Meeting with Kyrgyz guide and driver and transfer to Osh. The view is spectacularly amazing with the Pamir mountain range covered with permanent snow and glaciers on the right-hand side and small hills on the left with summer pastures. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 6, Th: Osh – Kyrgyz – Uzbek border – Fergana
City tour in Osh. As legends say Osh was founded by King Solomon and had an important position on trading routes of the Great Silk Road. Today you will visit Sulayman-Too (Solomon’s Mountain), museum, and the Osh bazaar that has not changed location since the times of Great Silk Road.
After lunch transfer to Kyrgyz-Uzbek border. Crossing the border. Meet you driver on Uzbekistan part of the border. Transfer to the hotel in Fergana.

Day 7, Fr: Fergana – Rishtan – Margilan – Tashkent
After breakfast visit Akhmad Al-Fergani Park, drive from Fergana to Rishtan to the house of a well-known ceramic master Rustam Usmanov, whose works have been exhibited on world exhibitions. You will learn more about Rishtan ceramics that have been produced since 7th century at the small house-museum. Drive to Margilan and visit Said Akhmad-Khoja Madrasah. Today, the madrasah is a home to a number of craftsmen producing handmade carpets and silk. Walk to the traditional bazaar (market) and continue to Yodgorlik Silk factory to see the production process of silk with traditional Ikat patterns. At 15:40 transfer to Margilan railway station. Take the train to Tashkent departing at 16:38. Arrive in Tashkent at 21:20. Pick-up and transfer to the hotel.
Day 8, Sa: Tashkent – Urgench
After breakfast start guided sightseeing tour in the capital of Uzbekistan, the biggest city in Central Asia. You will start with exploring the Old City. Visit the Khast-Imam Complex, where the world famous Quran, holy book that belonged to Caliph Uthman, has been preserved. The complex consists of Madrasah of Barak-Khan, Tilla Sheikh Mosque, Mausoleum of the Saint Abu Bakr Kaffal Shashi Mausoleum and the Islamic Institute of Imam al-Bukhari. Continue to Chor-Su Bazaar. Then take a ride on Tashkent Metro to the city center walk through Amir Timur Square, Independence Square and visit Applied Arts Museum.
Transfer to domestic airport, evening flight to Urgench departing at 19:00 (1093 km, 2 h 20 min). Arrival in Urgench at 21:20, transfer to the hotel in Khiva (30 km, 35 min).

Day 9, Su: Khiva – Bukhara
After breakfast sightseeing tour in Khiva. Visit Ichan-Kala Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage site. In Ichan-Qala Fortress visit Kunya-Ark, Sayid Allauddin Mausoleum, Arab-Mukhamadkhan Madrasah, Oq-Masjid Mosque, Khoja Berdibai Madrasah, Shirgazikhan Madrasah, Abdullakhan Madrasah, Juma Mosque, Allakulikhan madrasah, Tash-Khovli Palace, Pakhlavan Makhmud Mausoleum, Minaret of Islom Khodja. At 19:00 transfer to domestic airport, flight to Bukhara at 21:00, arrival at 22:00. Transfer to the hotel.

Day 10, Mo: Bukhara
After breakfast start walking sightseeing tour in Bukhara.
Visit Lyabi Hauz Ensemble, Magoki-Attori Mosque, trade domes, Kalyan Minaret, Kalyan Mosque and Miri-Arab Madrasah, Ulugbek and Abdulazizkhan madrasahs, Ark Fortress, Bolo-Khauz Mosque, Chor-Minor Madrasah, Ismail Samani and Chashma-Ayub mausoleums. Dinner and a national show at Nadir Divan-Begi Madrasah.

Day 11, Tu: Bukhara – Samarkand
Breakfast. Start the second day with a visit to Sitorai Mokhi-Khosa – the summer residence of Bukhara’s last emir, unique site combining Oriental and Russian architecture. Continue to the Mausoleum of Bakhouddin Naqshbandi and Chor-Bakr Necropolis. In the afternoon take the high-speed Afrosiyob train 15:52-17:20 or overland transfer. Arrive in Samarkand, check in to the hotel.

Day 12, We: Samarkand
After breakfast, Samarkand sightseeing tour. Visit spectacular Registan Square, Gur Emir Mausoleum – the mausoleum of Amir Timur, remains of Bibi Khanum Mosque, Siab Bazaar, Ulugbek Observatory. Free time in the afternoon.

Day 13, Th: Samarkand – Tashkent
Breakfast. Continue sightseeing tour in Samarkand. You will visit Shakhi-Zinda Necropolis, Afrasiab Museum and the Tomb of Saint Daniel. Then drive to Konigil village to explore traditional way of making Samarkand paper from mulberry. Farewell lunch in Samarkand.
At 16:30 transfer to the railway station to take the high-speed Afrosiyob train departing at 17:30 and arriving in Tashkent at 19:40 (300 km, 2 h 10 min). Pick-up and transfer to the hotel.

Day 14, Fr: Tashkent – departure
Check-out from the hotel till noon. Transfer to the airport. End of the tour.
