Navruz Park, Tashkent

You don't have to leave Tashkent to experience all of Uzbekistan. That may be an exaggeration, but there is a place in the capital where you can explore the country's landmarks, culture, and traditional crafts - Navruz Park.

Navruz Park, a themed attraction that opened in 2019, took several years to reach its final form. Today, it features the largest Ferris wheel in Uzbekistan, standing 72 meters tall and offering panoramic views of the city during a 20-minute rotation. The park also includes a garden with miniature replicas of the country’s most famous historical sites, as well as an ethnographic village with craft workshops and stores selling traditional clothing, ceramics, woodwork, and a wide range of souvenirs.

Today, local fairs and festivals are regularly held in Navruz Park, and on March 21, Navruz is widely celebrated here with performances by musicians and dance groups, and guests are treated to the festive delicacy “sumalak”. In the ethnographic village, you can sign up for a pottery master class or dine in an oriental-style restaurant.

To the north of Navruz Park is the Anhor Park shopping center and the Anhor Locomotive amusement park. If you head east, the path will lead you to a beautiful cable-stayed bridge over the Anhor Canal, behind which are the Museum of Olympic Glory and the Courage monument. Here you can also go down to the Anhor embankment and walk upstream to the Minor Mosque or downstream to Mustaqillik Square.

Navruz Park may not be among the essential stops on a Tashkent itinerary, but it offers a wonderful way to enrich your experience of the city and gain insight into the country’s culture, especially if you don’t have time for a full Uzbekistan tour.
