Lavash included in the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List

Armenian lavashArmenian lavash was included in the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List, reports RIA Information Agency with reference to the press-service of the Ministry of Culture of Armenia. This decision was made on the 9th Session of Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.

Lavash is thin bread made of simple dough of wheat flour that is popular among the people of Caucasus. This is the fourth point Armenians made in the UNESCO Representative list, earlier symbolism and art of making khachkar, Armenian duduk and medieval national epic “David of Sassoun” were included.
