In 2009 Azerbaijan will remain a country with the most dynamic economy in CIS
Azerbaijan will remain the country with most dynamic economy in CIS, says the UN’s World Economic Situation and Prospects 2009 Report. The report also notes that the national economy will grow by 14%.
The world economy is expected to grow by 1 %. Meanwhile, the Russian economy will grow 4.8 per cent, which is only followed by Georgia where GDP is expected to grow 4.5%, Kazakhstan (4%) and Ukraine (2.1%).
Azerbaijan – auspicious agricultural market
The territory of the Azerbaijan Republic constitutes 86.6 thousand square kilometers, 52.3% - lands good for agriculture
Azerbaijan is one of the few world countries which have 9 of the 11 climatic zones.
Plant cultivation is one of the main production branches of agriculture.
Azerbaijan fully satisfies domestic demand for the majority of agricultural products. Apart from that, the geographical location of the country allows profitable export of the agricultural products not only to the neighbouring markets of Russia, Iran, Turkey and Georgia, but also to the world markets. Azerbaijan is one of the main exporters of agricultural products and the agricultural processing products of to Russia.
The total volume of revenue from oil industry is expected to be more than 400 billion US dollars during the next years.
During January-May 2008 the volume of GDP in Azerbaijan reached 17 billion 664.1 million US dollars, which is 14.6% more than the same period of the last year. GDP per person was 2003.8 US dollars.
Due to the order of the president of Azerbaijan concerning “State Support of Producers of Agricultural Products” about 50% of the fuel cost using by farmers, engine oil and mineral fertilizer will be paid by state fund. In this purpose there will be given 94 million US dollars.
As the result of economical boom in the Republic the potentialities are increasing day by day and they became active crediting of agrarian sector. The means are sent to the financing of agricultural processing products.
