THE ECONOMY IN AZERBAIJAN
• For the last two years, Azerbaijan has had one of the most rapidly developing economies in the world.
• According to official forecasts from the Ministry of Economic Development, Azerbaijan’s GDP is expected to grow by over 30% in 2007. Already, it has increased by 39.7% over the first quarter of the year.
• Its successful economic policy has enabled Azerbaijan to establish commercial-economic ties with 140 countries around the world.
• According to the State Statistical Committee, 1,354 new companies were registered in the first half of this year whilst 5,123 new companies were registered during 2006.
• In the first quarter of 2007, Azerbaijani incomes grew by 35.2% compared to the previous year.
THE AUTOMOTIVE MARKET
• During 2007, the number of vehicles in the country is expected to reach 800,000 - twice as many as in 2000.
• Over the past year, seven well-known automobile companies opened official representative offices in Azerbaijan and more than 30 modern showrooms and service centres were put into operation.
• According to the Transport Ministry of Azerbaijan, renovation work for the republic’s bus network will require 800 large capacity and 2,000 small capacity buses.
• Research indicates that 650 Azerbaijani companies and individuals are official dealers or distributors for spare parts, accessories and service equipment manufacturers.

• AutoShow 2008 and AutoParts 2008 are the only international automotive exhibitions in Azerbaijan. They are also the public’s favourite events. In 2007, 25,000 specialists, car owners and car enthusiasts attended the exhibitions.
