Why Azerbaijan?

• Owing to its natural resources and, first and foremost, to its oil and gas reserves, to its geopolitical position and a stable legal base and large intellectual resources, Azerbaijan is nowadays one of the most interesting CIS countries for investors.
• The total scope of foreign investment into the economy of Azerbaijan in 2000-2007 made up over $28 billion. The Ministry of economic development of the country forecasts that in 2007-2010 the scope of investments into the Azerbaijan economy from all sources will make up approximately $38 billion.
• In the upcoming 20 years the total scope of investment into the economy is expected at the level of $200 billion.
• The volume of GDP in Azerbaijan in January-October 2007 totalled over $18 billion, which by 44% exceeded the figure registered for the same period of the last year. According to the forecasts for the year 2008, the volume of GDP is expected at the level of $30.4 billion at the growth rate of 28.3%.
• The scope of investment into Azerbaijan healthcare will grow considerably: whereas in 2006 the total scope of investment made up over $34 million, in 2007 it exceeded $110 million.
• In 2007, the Azerbaijan Ministry of Health implemented a global project which encompassed different spheres of healthcare. The means allocated for the purpose grew from $3.5 million up to $5.5 million.
• The growth of GDP in Azerbaijan totalled 135.1% as compared to the respective period of 2006.
• Over $85 million was allocated for Healthcare from the state budget in 2007.
• Privatisation of medical facilities, hospitals, clinics, etc., is carried out in the framework of the privatization program; procurement of medical equipment, consumables and medicaments by the medical facilities is decentralised.

The BIHE 2008 exhibition is held with support of the Ministry of Health, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Azerbaijan Republic, Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Foundation and Azerbaijan Stomatological Association ASA.
