Veloriksha project organizers inform that they plan to add routes all around the city and sights of Almaty, and fare for bike-taxis will be reasonable.
“Last year we took into consideration that the number of cyclists is increasing in the city. Along with dynamics of the tourist increase, visiting Almaty, and efforts of the central authorities in improving the ecology of the city, we came to the decision on launching the project “Veloriksha”. In everyday life, city residents will appreciate the bike-taxis. Even though bike-taxis are not suitable for long distance trips, but it will be possible to take a ride to 3-5 blocks in a comfortable vehicle for the price of starting from 200 tenge”, - shared the Head of the Project Sabit Sadiev.
Bicycles were ordered from Korea. They have 8 gears, equipped with electric drive, lights, stop-lights, side blinkers, horn and disc brakes. Passengers make themselves comfortable on a two-seat sofa that can be thrown back and place your luggage underneath. There is a protective tent above the seat, and in raining weather, clients will be provided with raincoats.
In the nearest time, it is planned to equip bike taxis with audio-system, as well as Wi-Fi routers. Maximal speed is 20km p/h, reports the Kazakh news agency.
