Water Tower

Water Tower, Vladimir

Not far from the Golden Gate there is another interesting tourist destination - the water tower. Looking at the tall rd brick building one might think that it at least a century old but it is not so. The tower was built in the beginning of the 20th century for the needs of the city. But in the mid 1950s the tower lost its purpose. Currently it houses the museum exhibition “Old Vladimir”.

The tower itself is a tall three-tiered cylinder extending upward like a fortress tower. Its decorations are the windows including the double ones with different sizes in each tier, and the brick decor - arches and rectangular head moldings above the windows; two arched niches belts, and ledges separating the tiers

On the top of the tower where the water tank used to be, is the viewing platform overlooking the magnificent panorama of the city.
