The end of May in Bukhara will be marked by festival of Uzbek culture and traditions “Silk and spice”, one of the most colorful touristic events of Uzbekistan.
“Silk and spice” is an enchanting national show that will cover the entire historical part of old Bukhara. This year festival guests will enjoy folk festivals, national dancing and singing, street performances, demonstration of old Uzbek customs and national games. The event delights eyes not only with shows, but with its beautiful background of medieval mausoleums, mosques and medrese adorned with intricate ornaments, Arabic characters and majolica which has inhaled the spirit of a legendary Great Silk Road for centuries.
It is a unique opportunity for tourists to dive into the atmosphere of Uzbek traditions, taste national cuisine, watch the art of local craftsmen, who will gather from all parts of Uzbekistan.
Festival "Silk and Spice" is held in Bukhara for the 14th time, but this year, as promised by the organizers, it will be the largest and most spectacular in its history. For five days, from 28 May to 1 June 2015, old Bukhara will turn into a fairy tale described in “One Thousand and One Nights”. The parade of musical groups from the citadel Ark to the architectural ensemble of Lyabi-Khauz will open the festival.

Real oriental market will unfold in front of you where one can touch and purchase silk fabrics, beautiful carpets and gold-embroidered national costumes, eastern jewelry, caracul fur, Uzbek ceramics, coinage and etc.
Visitors of the festival will see folklore shows, contests of cooks, exhibitions, master-classes and fashion shows. A gala-concert on the square of a famous architectural ensemble Poi-Kalyan will draw the festival to a close.
