Uzbekistan holds 17th place in Global High-Speed Train Ranking

Afrosiab train, UzbekistanUzbekistan took the 17th place among 20 countries of the world with developed railroad infrastructure according to the Global High-Speed Train Ranking presented by an online-platform GoEuro, reports UzDaily. Ranking was based on such indicators as record speed, operation speed, line and population coverage and other factors.

It is noted in the message that the record speed of a high-speed train in Uzbekistan makes up to 255 km/h (17th place in ranking on this indicator), and average exploitation speed – 250km/h (13th place). Share of high-speed line in total railway infrastructure of Uzbekistan is 8.21% (6th place) and covers 9.01% of Uzbek population (16th place). Every kilometer of the train ride costs 0.18 euros for passengers (11th place).

Japan, South Korea and China hold the first top three places in the ranking. Russia is on the 15th place. Norway, USA and Finland complete the ranking list.

High-speed train Afrosiyob of the Spanish modification Talgo 250 operates regular runs between Tashkent and Samarkand since 8 October 2011 and as of 2015, high speed train was launched on route Tashkent-Samarkand-Karshi.
