The first to be constructed by Zakaryan princes was St. Gregory the Illuminator chapel. It is located high above the road, a hundred meters from the monastery entrance.
The part of it was cut in the rock; some small fragments of dark frescos are still visible. The khachkars with various ornaments make the chapel livelier.
