Hissar - Mausoleum of Makhdumi Azam

Next to Old madrasah stands the Mausoleum of Makhdumi Azam (16th - 17th centuries). Makhdumi Azam means "the Greatest Master" and is not considered a name but a title or a nickname. It is a curious fact there are few complexes on the territory of Central Asia bearing this name which are connected with various nonfiction people: state or religious figures. No one knows who was buried in Hissar Mausoleum. Presumably it was Hodzha Mohammed Hajvoki.
