Tajikistan to launch excavations in the territory of Ancient BactriaTajik archaeologists plan to dig the area where the Kushan Empire existed about two thousand years ago – reports ITAR-TASS as quoted to Saidmurod Bobomulloev, Director of National Museum of Antiquities of Tajikistan. Twelve experienced Tajik archaeologists to be joined by their colleagues from Moscow will be engaged in the dig.

The studies will be held in Chiltanbobo, located in the southern Farkhor region, Tajikistan, on the border with Afghanistan. The scientist believes that in ancient times, the area, known as Bactria, was part of the Kushan Empire, which was stretched out from China to Afghanistan.

It is known that earlier, some old tombs of people, as well as female jewelries in the burial grounds and several large clay jugs of human height were already discovered in Chiltanbobo.
