Uzbekistan and MebelExpo Uzbekistan 2008
The Republic of Uzbekistan is the country in Central Asia with population of 26 million and the area of 447,000 sq.km. It shares borders with Kazakhstan to the west and to the north, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan to the east, and Afghanistan and Turkmenistan to the south.
In accordance to the data of the State committee of Republic Uzbekistan on statistics, the foreign trade turnover of republic on results of 2006 has made $10,8 billion, that on 13,5 % exceeds a similar parameter of the last year. Thus export has made $6,4 billion, import - $4,4 billion. Proceeding from the given parameters, the positive balance of the foreign trade turnover of republic for the last year has made $2 billion.
The structure of import of Republic on results of the last year looks as follows: machines and the equipment - 40,3 %, chemical products and plastic - 15 %, black and nonferrous metals - 10,4 %, services - 9,1 %, articles of food - 8,1 %, energy carriers - 4,3 %, other - 12,8 %.
In the meantime almost 80% of equipment and machines and up to 90-95% of raw materials for furniture production are not produced in the Republic.
