The biggest beshbarmak cooked in Astana

On 6 July, on the Day of the City, there was held an unusual campaign “Taykazan” in Astana. Within its framework, 25 Kazakh cooks prepared the biggest beshbarmak in the world that was immediately included in the Guinness World Records Book as “the biggest national dish of the country”. For the preparation of this huge dish, there were used 800kg meat, 300kg dough and more than 10 sacks of onions. In the result, 736,5kg of beshbarmak was cooked.

Celebration of the city held in the Park of Lovers turned into a real cooking fest for the visitors, hundreds of people tasted the biggest beshbarmak in the world. After the registration, festive concert was arranged.

Beshbarmak is the most popular dish of the national  kazakh cuisine, and its interesting name is translated from Kazakh language as “five fingers”. This simple and full meal consists of a boiled meat of different kinds (beef, lamb, horse and camel meat) and noodles in the shape of big rectangles.
