According to the Hvino News portal, the decision has been made at the last session of the General Assembly of the International Association of Sommeliers (Association de la Sommellerie Internationale, ASI) in Rhine (France).
As everybody knows, at all times Georgian wines have been famous for their high taste and unique bouquet of flavors far beyond the borders of their country. Most of the wines are exported to the CIS countries and Europe. The main importer of Georgian wines is Russia (over 65%), other major importing countries are Kazakhstan, Poland, Belarus and China.
Georgia’s membership in the International Association of sommelier, according to the market experts’ opinion, will be an additional incentive for the growth of Georgian wines export to the Western Europe and Southeast Asia.
Within the Assembly in Rhine the President of Georgian Sommelier Association and Honorary Ambassador of Georgian Wines Mr. Shalva Khetsuriani has carried preliminary negotiations for the sale of Georgian wine abroad with the presidents of the Associations of Sommeliers of China, Japan, Sweden, Norway, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Great Britain and Poland.
