The oldest Kazakh medrese was foundIn the place of the medieval town Sauran, there was found and actively being restored the oldest medrese in Kazakhstan, - reports the Information Agency DKNEWS referring to TASS. Medrese dates back to the 16th century and scientists note that it has been well preserved.

Currently archeologists are excavating medrese, gradually acquiring information about its initial look. There are more than 60 rooms in the medrese, cells, where students lived, reached us in a good condition. According to archeologists, learners led an ascetic lifestyle, sleeping on mats and patchwork quilts. Later students and teachers had to leave the dilapidating building, and the medrese was taken by artisans whose melting stoves and remnants were found by scientists. The head of the Turkestan expedition Yerbolat Smagulov stated that there was no other older medrese found and studied on the territory of Kazakhstan.

Excavations of the town Sauran are still being held. Sauran is a dense urban area with public buildings and parade avenues. It is planned to demonstrate the richness of urban culture on the territory of Kazakhstan based on the sample of the restored complex. The restored complex will serve as a case study to show the richness of urban culture in Kazakhstan.
