Tour itinerary:
Our guide and driver will pick you up from your hotel lobby at 07:30 and drive to the Badaling section of the Great Wall (75 km, 1 h 30 min). On the way, stop for a short visit to a jade carving factory to learn about this traditional Chinese craft, which combines skilled artistry with deep cultural symbolism.
Continue to the Badaling Great Wall, the most famous and best-preserved section. Spend around two hours exploring the site, known for its impressive views and historical significance. The highest point reaches 800 meters above sea level. A cable car is available (optional) for those who wish to reach the summit and enjoy panoramic views from above.
Afterwards, enjoy a traditional Chinese lunch at a local restaurant.
In the afternoon, visit Longqing Gorge (30 km, 40 min), located 10 kilometers northeast of Yanqing County. Often referred to as the “Lesser Lijiang River beyond the Great Wall” and “Small Three Gorges of China”, this scenic area features dramatic cliffs, river views, waterfalls in summer, and ice formations in winter. Highlights include a towering concrete dam, one of the largest in northern China.
Return to Beijing (100 km, 2 h) in the evening. If time permits, you may also visit a silk exhibition hall to experience another aspect of traditional Chinese culture.
