Tour itinerary:
Arrive in Beijing. Our car will pick us up and transfer us to the hotel. In the evening, we take a walk along Wangfujing Street.
Duration of sightseeing tour: 3 hours
Our first stop is the impressive Tiananmen Square, where many national ceremonies are held. From the square, we walk to the magnificent Forbidden City. Upon arrival at the largest imperial palace in China, travellers are often struck by its towering red walls and the vast number of buildings topped with golden roofs. We then continue on foot to Coal Hill, once a royal garden, where we enjoy a panoramic view of the Forbidden City.
After that, we drive to visit the Summer Palace, including a boat ride. The palace served as the imperial family’s summer retreat, often referred to as the “Palace to Avoid the Heat”. In the evening, there is also an option to attend a kung fu show or an acrobatic show.
Duration of sightseeing tour: 8–9 hours
Today we first visit the Temple of Heaven, where emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties once worshipped the God of Heaven. We then continue to the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall. One of the best-preserved parts of the Great Wall, Mutianyu historically served as a northern defensive barrier protecting the capital and the imperial tombs. It was built and restored during the early Ming Dynasty (1368–1644) on the foundations of a wall originally constructed in the Northern Qi Dynasty (550–570), giving it a history of more than 1,400 years.
After that, we drive to the Olympic Park to see the modern landmarks of Beijing – the Bird’s Nest and the Water Cube – from the outside.
Duration of sightseeing tour: 8-9 hours
After that, we drive to the Shichahai Hutong area to explore Beijing’s traditional residential neighbourhoods by rickshaw, an old and characteristic form of local transport. We then visit the Houhai area on foot to observe everyday local life.
Afterwards, you will be transferred to the airport for the departure flight.
