The Central Exhibition Hall of the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan is located in the heart of Tashkent, next to Lotte City Hotel Tashkent Palace. In July 2026, the building was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List together with other landmarks of Tashkent modernist architecture.
Opened in 1974, the hall offers 2,500 square metres of exhibition space, making it one of the largest in Central Asia. Its spacious, light-filled galleries display paintings and sculptures by renowned Uzbek masters, alongside works by younger artists who build on the traditions of the Uzbek school of painting while exploring contemporary ideas.
The centerpiece of the building is occupied by a sculpture and graphics hall, surrounded by halls of paintings and applied arts, located already on the second floor. The building itself is as interesting as its exposition: the facade is beset with a national décor, the interior space is filled with light coming through the windows in the ceiling, while massive columns and marble finishing emphasize the monumentality of the Central Exhibition Hall of the Academy of Arts. In addition, in a small park adjacent to the building, there is an outdoor hall to display sculptures, and in the warm, sunny days – paintings as well.
The Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan, while supervising the activity of the Central Exhibition Hall, is also involved in the organization of exhibitions and other cultural activities that contribute to the development and support of fine and applied arts in the republic. In addition, each year the Central Exhibition Hall of the Academy of Arts becomes a venue to hold major shows. It hosted Tashkent Biennale, "Navkiron Uzbekistan" art festival, Fine Arts Week FAW+5, etc, which was attended by renowned international artists, sculptors and photographers.
