A solemn flower-laying ceremony at the Monument to the Constitution in Ashgabat is held each year in commemoration of this day.

The flag of Turkmenistan was approved on February 19, 1992. It symbolizes the triumph of the national spirit and the independence of the state. Now after the flower-laying ceremony in Ashgabat on May 18, a delegation proceeds to the main square, where the state flag is raised on a 133-meter-high flagpole, one of the tallest of its kind in the world.
