One-day tour to the ancient city of Otrar, which was destroyed many centuries ago by the army of Genghis Khan. Our journey will begin in Tashkent, and we will drive through the steppe to the ruins of a large city on the Great Silk Road. Here you can climb to the top of the settlement, see traces of fortifications, archaeological excavations and much more. On the same day, in the evening we will return to Tashkent.
Tour itinerary:
Tashkent – Otrar – Tashkent (Uzbekistan/Kazakhstan)
At 8 am drive to Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan border crossing point “Jibek-Joli / Gisht-Kuprik (Сhernyaevka)” (30 km, 40 m.). Upon arrival at the customs and passport control on both sides, kindly proceed to the exit of the border control area. At that point, our guide/driver will be waiting for you with the sign with your name. Meet your driver and guide on the Kazakh side. Drive to Shaulder village (240 km, 3 hours). Explore Otrar (10 - 12th centuries) (14 km) was one of the main points of the Great Silk Road, and today it is only grandiose ruins that keep a lot of historical facts and mysteries. Visit archeological excavations: a medieval bath, a mosque, residential area, a fortification. Return to Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan border point “Chernyaevka” by 17:00. Border formalities. Meet your driver and transfer back to the hotel in Tashkent.
