Rukh Ordo, Cholpon-Ata

Rukh Ordo, on the shore of Lake Issyk-Kul in Cholpon-Ata, is a cultural center dedicated to five of the major religions in the world: Catholicism, Orthodox Christianity, Judaism, Islam, and Buddhism. Rukh Ordo was designed to be a spiritual center and starting place for interreligious understanding and peace.

The center was founded in 2002 on a sacred spot, and now includes five sanctuaries and a concert hall that is open to allow a view to the lake. There are also exhibition halls and photo and portrait exhibits that feature designs from nomadic groups. In 2008, Rukh Ordo was dedicated to Chingiz Aitmatov, and there are exhibits about his life, as well as plenty of statues inspired by his books and stories.

The space is used for concerts, festivals, exhibitions, local and international events, and tours.
